Inlay & Onlay & Overlay

Protect less damaged teeth by ceramic Inlay, Onlay or Overlay

Large dental fillings can weaken the tooth, causing its break or crack. Inlays, onlays or overlays are made from a tough, ceramic material which looks natural and attractive. The material a is placed inside or over the surface of a decayed or damaged tooth. Inlays, onlays or overlays are seen as a good alternative to crowns.

Advantages of Inlay, Onlay or Overlay

  1. No temporary solutions and unpleasant dental impressions
  2. Absolute accuracy
  3. Long life and high quality of material
  4. Protection against cavities
  5. Absolutely natural appearance
  6. It reduces the chance of undetectable decay leading to a silent destruction of tooth structure

Treatment description

This procedure is done during a single visit to the dentist thanks to patented method Cerec. The dentist must first examine the affected tooth or teeth. Then he/she drill decay, old filling or both.

He/she treats the tooth to the required shape and then scans it using a special CEREC camera. After scanning, the tooth is converted into a 3D model and the scan becomes three-dimensional.

Then the inlay or onlay is designed and sent by the system to the mill unit that fabricates the relevant tooth replacement.

Ceramic Veneers

Minimally invasive teeth restoration

Ceramic veneers are an aesthetic ceramic plates covering the front surfaces of teeth. The dentist have to create room for the porcelain veneers. A very small amount of the tooth enamel must be removed before applying a veneer, in most cases less than a millimeter.

Clinics equipped with CEREC® can apply veneers while you wait. But the teeth must be free of decay. It is often necessary to whiten and repair the teeth before applying veneers. The color of facets should be bright and the same as the color of natural teeth.

Indication

  1. Extreme discolorations such as devitalized teeth or teeth darkened from age
  2. Chipped or fractured teeth
  3. Small gaps between the teeth
  4. Too short anterior teeth
  5. Rotated teeth or overlaps
  6. Teeth that resist whitening

The advantages of ceramic veneers

Unlike natural teeth, ceramic veneers resist coffee and tea stains, and cigarette smoke. Your natural teeth remain largely intact. They look very natural and are a very good way to change the shape and color of the teeth as well as close spaces or correct rotated teeth.

The difference between lumineers and porcelain veneers

The main difference is that Lumineers are made from a special patented porcelain that is very strong and could be much thinner than other fabricated veneers. Lumineers can be placed on the teeth without removal of the tooth enamel, therefore it is a reversible procedure. Lumineers can be placed only on teeth that are in good structural condition.

Before Surgery

Microorganisms in the oral cavity could impair the healing process after implantation. Very good dental hygiene is a must.

You are to know, that the bone disappears after the tooth loss. If the jawbone is too weak, the bone remodeling (grafting) is needed prior implantation, the implant must have a solid base. Therefore the surgeon must evaluate the state of teeth, quality of jawbone and gums via RTG image.

Surgery

All treatments are performed under local anaesthesy. The lenght of procedure depends on its scale. You might experience some discomfort, but no pain.

After Surgery

After the procedure, when the anesthesia has worn off, the patient may feel some sensitivity or soreness, because of slightly damaged gums around the tooth. The pain is minimal and shouldn't last long.

After Care

Perfect daily hygiene of the oral cavity contributes to the long-term success of the application of an implant and other dental protetics and its lifetime.

Dental Implants

  1. Antibiotics are prescribed with surgery and need to be taken as instructed by the doctor.
  2. The pain after the procedure is mild, lasting 1-2 days after the insertion of the implant. Your doctor will prescribe or recommend a suitable type of analgesic.
  3. Do not take an analgesic that encourages bleeding - for example Acylpyrin, Anopyrin.
  4. Swelling results the day after the insertion of the implant therefore it is important after treatment until you go to bed and the whole of the next day to apply cold and dry compresses (cooling gel packs covered in a handkerchief, the handkerchief must be dry and must not be soaked in water).
  5. Patients who are afraid of treatment can be prescribed drugs for soothing or dulling pain, or the entire treatment can be carried out under analgosedation. Transport must be arranged for these patients after treatment.
  6. You must only have soft lukewarm food, lukewarm drink and not wash out the oral cavity in the first 24 hours after treatment.
  7. You must continue having soft food or only chew on the side of the mouth where surgery was not carried out on the second and third day.
  8. You should not have hot food on the first three days after the procedure because it could cause the wound to bleed.
  9. You can wash out the oral cavity by a mouth disinfectant solution as instructed by the doctor.
  10. On the day of surgery do not wash out the oral cavity and on the first to third day after the procedure wash out the cavity after eating food.

Complications

Teeth Implants

  1. Swelling of your gums and parts of face
  2. Minor bleeding
  3. Bruising
  4. Pain of the implanted bone
  5. Infection in the wound (prevented by antibiotics)
  6. Allergy to drug or anaesthesia
  7. Implant wound does not heal

Insertion of a dental implant is not 100% risk free. It is a process that carries certain risks such as infection in the wound, allergies to drugs, anaesthesia.
